My original plan was to make the announcement closer to May 2023 when the movie trailers to the upcoming MEG-2: The TRENCH motion picture should be coming out, but when an unexpected opportunity with my long-time printer at A & M Publishing presented itself, I decided to bring it out early so that you can devour Volumes I & II before the movie arrives in theaters in August of this year.Īnd so it is with heartfelt thanks that I present to MEGheads past, present & future:Ī seven-volume Collector’s boxed set of Steve Alten’s MEG SERIES, featuring each of the seven full-length MEG novels and three novellas - presented in chronological order. I started planning this months ago – my goal – to create a real keepsake fans of the series could enjoy and pass onto the next generations of Giant Shark and sea monster lovers in their own family. But A & M Publishing could do it – as long as this special Collector’s editions are never sold in stores or on amazon, and are limited to only 5,000 books. ![]() Simply put, with three different publishers that was never going to happen. ![]() SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT (Updated February 22, 2023)įor years MEGheads have been asking for a complete set of all seven MEG novels in hardback. ![]() ![]() ![]() Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentime by Barbara Park. My most recent read of a book like this is Junie B. It seems that the books that find me end up being the most enjoyable reads. ![]() I think it would be a great, funny book to read aloud to a small child, but I would think these intentional errors would make it more difficult for someone who is just getting to the chapter book stage of reading. Not only that, but many of the words are spelled wrong (valentime, nouncement) and the sentence grammar is wrong and the sentences go on and on (like, well, a five-year old). The author tries to write as if Junie is talking/thinking, so it jumps around quite a bit, as an easily distracted five-year-old would. Or either that, the particular 7 year old I am with is a better reader than most. Along the way we get a lot of cute antics from the independent and talkative five year old.īut I must say, I'm surprised/impressed kids can read this and do well with it. Junie gets a fancy mushy valentine from a secret admirer and then sets out to solve the mystery of who sent it. I of course knew the ending well before the end, but that's probably because I'm 28 and not 7. I eagerly accepted, having heard good things about them and wanting to know what all the fuss was about. Jones books with her, and asked if I'd like to read one. ![]() One of the little girls who I brought to the zoo on Saturday had two Junie B. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() Telgemeier stated she was inspired to write Ghosts in part by the death of her young cousin Sabina, who died from cancer at the age of 13. Instead, Telgemeier depicts the titular ghosts as real but benevolent presences to help Catrina understand death and deal with Maya's terminal illness. The magical realism of Ghosts marks a sharp change from Telgemeier's earlier works, which have been autobiographical ( Smile Sisters ) or realistic fiction ( Drama ). ![]() ![]() Catrina and Maya explore their Mexican heritage with the help of Carlos, culminating in a Dia de los Muertos celebration in November. ![]() The novel opens as the family is ordering at the drive-through of a fictional Double-Back Burger (the colors and logos of which are based on In-N-Out Burger) before leaving southern California for Bahía de la Luna.Īs the sisters are exploring Bahía de la Luna, they are surprised by a boy named Carlos Calaveras, who turns out to be one of their new neighbors.
